An easy trick for Android users for creating a widget to showing the number of unread articles:

Install the Crafty Apps Zoom Android widget creator app (free):

Create an 1x1 widget:
- start Zoom app,
- select the "Templates" menu,
- select the green "+" on the right down corner,
- add name for widget (example: tt-rss)
- set 1x1 cells,
- set background color, margin and border color, and set to visible,
- select the green pipe, after you can start the creating of the elements of widget,
- press Menu button, and select the "Add Element" menu,
- select the "Text" menu, and add name to element,
- select the magnifying on the "Text" menu,
- select the "Remote File" menu,
- add the following link to the URL field (customize your server, such as domain and full link of your tt-rss service, and add the login name for your tt-rss account):
*http://SELF_URL_PATH/backend.php?op=getUnread&login=LOGIN*
- set the "Update Frequency", after select the green pipe,
- configure the display properties of the text,
- select the magnifying on the "Click Action" menu,
- if you want to start an application, then select the "Launch App" and after select the required app,
- or if you want to use only the mobile web version of tt-rss, then select the "Shortcut" menu, and after select bookmark application and your tt-rss bookmark,
- select the green pipe 3x,
- go to your today launcher, and add your new widget (select Zoom, 1x1, tt-rss).

Done! 

Note: Unfortunately, after reading the counter isn't updated immediately, only after the selected time interval.
