Ever wonder why email providers accept the username corgicrazy@ but not JoséRamón@? Email services have always required users to use non-accented Latin characters when signing up. But less than half of the world’s population doesn’t use the Latin alphabet and that’s a lot of people left out. Starting today, Gmail will recognize addresses with non-Latin and accented Latin characters. So you can send and receive emails from your friends like Théo@ and Zoé@.
